German Shepherd Police Dogs
German shepherd police dogs start training when they are a puppy still in the breeder kennels.
Not any dog of this breed can perform difficult tasks. Capabilities of every dog first and foremost depend on their pedigree. Not all bloodlines within the breed are suited for work. The international working line is bred for working abilities; the other two - the international show line and the North American show line – are bred mostly for shows and are suited for the role of family pets. There is a debate over the North American show line. It has diverged enough from the old breed standard to be considered a separate breed.

puppy, kennels
Dogs of this breed have an excellent nose, making them good for tracking and search and rescue work. They are very calm and have a steady temperaments when well bred. That is why they have been used as "Seeing Eye" dogs. These dogs require regular exercises, mental stimulation and a well-balanced diet. Especially it is very important in the earliest age when the dog must get all the necessary vitamins and be trained properly. There are also many factors that influence the dog’s behavior: socialization, steady trainer’s hand and care.
