These dogs are very popular and easy to recognize. They are strong and well muscled, giving the impression of fitness and power. Their chest is deep and capacious; the ribs are well sprung; the neck is long and muscular. The withers should be higher than the back. The muzzle of these dogs is long and massive, with noble and cleanly chiseled outlines. Almond-shaped eyes should be as dark as possible. Pointed ears are carried erect.
